METAL BUILDING ROOF REPAIR

PART 1 GENERAL

1.4 SUBMITTALS
A. Comply with Section 01330 - Submittal Procedures.
B. Product Data: Submit manufacturer's product data, including surface preparation and application instructions.
C. Samples: Submit manufacturer's 6-inch square sample of membrane.
D. Manufacturer's Certification: Submit manufacturer's certification that materials comply with specified requirements and are suitable for intended application.
E. Warranty: Submit manufacturer's standard warranty.
1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Delivery: Deliver materials to site in manufacturer's original, unopened containers and packaging, with labels clearly identifying product name and manufacturer.

C. Handling: Protect materials during handling and application to prevent damage or contamination.
1.6 ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
A. Do not apply membrane at air or surface temperature below 40 degrees F.
B. Do not apply roof coating at air or surface temperature below 50 degrees F.
C. Do not apply roof coating if air or surface temperature will fall below 40 degrees F within 24 hours after application.
D. Do not apply roof coating if rain is expected within 24 hours after application.

2.2 METAL BUILDING ROOF REPAIR
A. Membrane: #460 Pol-E-Base.
B. Primer: #80 Primer. Solvent-based black primer.
C. Self-Adhering Fastener Covers: #465 Screw-Caps. 1-1/2-inch or 2-inch round die-cut pieces of #460 Pol-E-Base used to seal over roof fasteners.
Specifier Notes: Specify #1300T Reflective White Elastomeric Coating or #1300 Gray White Plastic Elastomeric Coating.
D. Reflective White Roof Coating: #1300T Reflective White Elastomeric Coating. Elastomeric, acrylic, reflective-white emulsion curing to flexible, waterproof membrane.
E. Gray Roof Coating: #1300 Gray White Plastic Elastomeric Coating. Elastomeric, acrylic, gray emulsion curing to flexible, waterproof membrane.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Examine surfaces to receive metal building roof repair. Notify Architect of conditions that would adversely affect application. Do not proceed with application until unsatisfactory conditions are corrected.
3.2 SURFACE PREPARATION
A. Prepare surfaces in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B. Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, smooth, and sound.
C. Remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, asphalt not cured dry, and other contaminants
that could adversely affect adhesion of metal building roof repair.
D. Ensure roof surface is properly sloped to drains, with no ponding water.
E. Apply primer over asphalt-based aluminum coatings, silicone coatings, and rusty metal.
F. Tighten or replace roof fasteners.
3.3 APPLICATION
A. Apply metal building roof repair in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B. Apply membrane over seams on roof.
C. Center self-adhering fastener covers over roof fasteners.
D. Apply 2 coats of roof coating to roof surface, including membrane and self-adhering fastener covers.
E. Do not add thinners to roof coating.
3.4 PROTECTION
A. Protect applied metal building roof repair from damage during construction.
