RECYCLED RUBBER ROOFING SYSTEM

1.4 SUBMITTALS
A. Comply with Section 01330 - Submittal Procedures.
B. Product Data: Submit manufacturer's product data, including surface preparation and application instructions.
C. Samples: Submit manufacturer's 6-inch square samples of roof reinforcing fabric and roof membrane.
D. Manufacturer's Certification: Submit manufacturer's certification that materials comply with specified requirements and are suitable for intended application.
E. Warranty: Submit manufacturer's standard warranty.
1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Delivery: Deliver materials to site in manufacturer's original, unopened containers and packaging, with labels clearly identifying product name and manufacturer.

C. Handling: Protect materials during handling and application to prevent damage or contamination.
1.6 ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
A. Do not apply materials at air or surface temperature below 50 degrees F.
B. Do not apply materials if air or surface temperature will fall below 32 degrees F within 24 hours after application.
C. Do not apply materials if rain is expected within 24 hours after application.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.1 MANUFACTURER

2.2 RECYCLED RUBBER ROOFING SYSTEM
Specifier Notes: Specify #700 Recycled Rubber Roofing when a black monolithic elastic membrane is required. Specify #720 Recycled Rubber Roofing when a light gray monolithic elastic membrane is required.
A. Top Coat: [#700] [#720] Recycled Rubber Roofing.
B. Roof Reinforcing Fabric: #5511 Pol-E-Scrim. 5 by 5 strands per inch mesh polyester roof reinforcing fabric. 6-mil layer of polyester spun-bonded fabric adhered to top side of polyester scrim to produce single membrane.
C. Base Coat: #100 Vap-R-Lok. Liquid acrylic emulsion.
D. Primer: #80 Primer. Solvent-based black primer.
E. Saturant/Primer: #600 Saturant/Primer. Acrylic saturant and primer.
F. Tape: # 200 Expansion System Tape. Self-adhering, 2-inch wide tape of synthetic rubber and bitumen, with polyethylene on 1 side and removable paper on other side.
G. Waterproof Membrane: #500 Stick-Two. Nonreinforced roll of rubber and synthetic resins, self-adhering on both sides.
H. Roof Membrane: #460 Pol-E-Base. Self-adhering roof membrane of bituminous resin modified with synthetic resins and reinforced with polyester fabric.
I. Roof Vents: #885 Roof Vent. Aluminum, 1-way, 2-piece, EPS-insulated vent.
Specifier Notes: As an option, one of the following elastomeric coatings may be specified as a finish coat. Delete the following two paragraphs if a finish coat of reflective white or gray elastomeric coating is not required.
J. Finish Coat: #1300T Reflective White Elastomeric Coating. Elastomeric, acrylic, reflective-white emulsion curing to flexible, waterproof membrane.
K. Finish Coat: #1300 Gray White Plastic Elastomeric Coating. Elastomeric,
acrylic, gray emulsion curing to flexible, waterproof membrane.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Examine surfaces to receive recycled rubber roofing system. Notify Architect of conditions that would adversely affect application. Do not proceed with application until unsatisfactory conditions are corrected.
3.2 SURFACE PREPARATION
A. Prepare surfaces in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B. Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, smooth, sound, and free of blisters.
C. Remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, asphalt not cured dry, and other contaminants that could adversely affect adhesion of recycled rubber roofing system.
D. Ensure roof surface has 1/4-inch per foot slope, is properly sloped to drains and eaves, and has no ponding water.
E. Ensure cants and tapered edges are sound and preformed to 45-degree angle.
F. Ensure roof insulation is not wet.
G. Remove loose roofing from parapets.
H. Repair roof cracks in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
3.3 APPLICATION
A. Apply recycled rubber roofing system in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B. Allow a minimum of 48 hours of dry curing before applying second coat of recycled rubber roofing.
Specifier Notes: Delete the following sentence if a finish coat of reflective white or gray elastomeric coating is not required.
C. Apply finish coat after last coat of recycled rubber roofing has cured a minimum of 48 hours.
D. Do not coat over surface wet from rain or dew.
E. Do not add thinners to coating materials.
F. Ensure completed application forms seamless, watertight, elastomeric roofing membrane.
3.4 PROTECTION
A. Protect applied recycled rubber roofing system from damage during construction.
